Established in 1913 as the Relief Association of Lawrence, Peninsula Counseling Center is one of the oldest and largest Mental Health Counseling Services on Long Island. An affiliate of North Shore-LIJ Health System, Peninsula Counseling Center is licensed by the New York State Office of Mental Health and the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services.
Peninsula Counseling Center's Outpatient Mental Health and Chemical Dependency Treatment Center is located at 50 West Hawthorne Ave., Valley Stream, New York in a modern and comfortable 25,000 square foot building. Our Alzheimer and Frail Elderly Social Day Program is located at 1355 Noel Avenue, Hewlett, New York.
Our professional staff of 70 psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, psychiatric nurses, vocational rehabilitation counselors and social workers provide caring and confidential counseling for people of all ages. Our multilingual counselors provide services in ten languages including Gaelic, Greek, Hebrew, Hindu, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Yiddish. We believe that everyone should feel comfortable getting help when they need it from professionals in a caring and clearly understandable environment.
Peninsula Counseling Center helps individuals and families rebuild their lives through individual, family and group therapy, as well as medication management. Programs are open to all regardless of age, race, color, creed, sex, ethnicity, national origin or disabling conditions.
Peninsula Counseling Center also works closely with area schools, providing counseling and support for children of all ages. We believe that early identification and treatment of emotional and psychological problems has a tremendous impact on our children's futures.
