South Shore Services for the Handicapped
South Shore Services for the Handicapped is a unique mental health-based program providing a range of psychotherapeutic services for individuals with highly specialized needs including the physically and developmentally disabled and the socially isolated. The objective is to provide an opportunity for social interaction, to further specific skill development relating to the handicapped condition, and to encourage individuals to advocate on their own behalf. Methodology includes individual, family and group counseling, advocacy, tutoring, socialization, skill training and recreation.

Out and About
Out and About enables adults whose physical disabilities prevent them from working to meet with their peers during the day. The only program of its kind on Long Island, Out and About fills a critical void. Feelings of isolation and loneliness can overcome those who suffer physical disabilities who are at home throughout the day. While such people live active intellectual lives, their disabilities often prevent them from regularly interacting with others. The lack of social contact can be very frustrating. The Out and About group meets once a week during the day with programs that provide important social interaction.
